2nd basement track progresses
The building of the new rails into the clubhouse basement has made further progress with a working bee in Saturday 11th October 2008 extending the 2nd storage rail, which had previously reached halfway into the building, to the end of the south wall. It uses a much heavier channel steel for the posts than that used by the 1st rail into the basement, but lighter tube for length-wise bracing. The 1st rail had the advantage of bracing from the east basement wall.
While four members worked downstairs welding, grinding, dynabolting and bracing, Colin braved the winds on the far side of the mountain pruning the trees that the cows had seriously disadvantaged some years ago (by munching heavily on one side) which we now hope may level up and grow straight, and Bob completed getting the new display tables in place in the upper clubhouse then moved on to preparing the compressor and piping to supply air for the (semi-) static models that will in the near future run on air.
